10th Annual Cold Turkey Plunge

JOIN US ON IN TOWN SQUARE FOR THE 10TH ANNUAL COLD TURKEY PLUNGE!

Every November, locals, visitors, and longtime community members gather on the beach of Corcoran Pond to take the plunge into freezing waters in support of Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports. Over the past 10 years, the Waterville Valley community has raised over $385,000 to benefit the mission of Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports.

  • Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports is a 501 © (3) non-profit organization dedicated and highly-trained volunteer instructors.dedicated to empowering individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities through access and instruction in sports and recreation for life. WVAS encourages freedom and self reliance through experiential opportunities in a safe and supportive environment with their highly trained staff and volunteers. The program enriches the lives of everyone involved, resulting in profound and lasting impact on individualism, health and wellbeing. Today the program is guided by over seventy dedicated and highly-trained volunteer instructors.

The Cold Turkey Plunge kicks off with a Pre-Plunge Parade. Community members gather in Town Square as WVAS volunteers, members, and plungers march to the dock with bagpipers in tow.

  • As part of the annual tradition, plungers also participate in a Costume Contest.

  • Plungers will be rewarded with an official Plunge Shirt, a gourmet cold turkey sandwich (courtesy of Chef Sean Stout at the Coyote Grill) and other incentives and goodies! 

  • Prizes will be awarded for the most funds raised (team & individual) and best costume (team & individual). Costumes are encouraged but optional.

  • Having fun is not optional it is required!

  • Following the Cold Turkey Plunge, Santa will arrive in Town Square bearing gifts and candy for each child who comes to visit.
