2024 Memorial Day Weekend Guide

Memorial Day Weekend is upon us, meaning summer is just around the corner! To celebrate this holiday weekend, Waterville Valley is hosting plenty of family-friendly events! Check out the full 2024 Memorial Day Weekend Guide below. 

SATURDAY, May 25

YOUTH FISHING DERBY - CASTIN' FOR KIRBY 

REGISTRATION FEE: $6   

Join the Waterville Valley Recreation Department on the shores of Corcoran Pond for their 14th Annual Youth Fishing Derby. Any kid under the age of 15 can participate in this thrilling challenge. There will be over $1000 worth of prizes, plus face painting, DIY t-shirts, and more! Age groups will have staggered start times, with 7 & under beginning at 8:30, and ages 8-15 beginning at 8:45. The pond is stocked with trout prior to the event, so there will be no shortage of fish!   

 

LIVE OUTDOOR CONCERT 

FREE EVENT

Following the Derby, Waterville Valley Resort is hosting a live outdoor concert at the Town Square Gazebo. Bring some friends, grab some drinks (and enjoy our open container town) and jam out to some live music under the shadows of 4000-foot mountain peaks. Dan Morgan Band is performing from 12pm-3pm, and The Latch Key Trio is performing from 4pm-7pm. Don't forget, live outdoor concerts take place on Fridays & Saturdays in July & August and select holiday Sundays. 

 

BOOK SALE  

Osceola Library is hosting its Annual Book Sale on Saturday, May 25th from 12pm-3pm. Plan on stopping by to peruse a great selection of books. Library tote bags will be available for purchase to fill up with books!   

 
 
 

Fireworks

9PM

Ring in the start of Waterville’s green season with a stunning fireworks display in Town Square! Show is best viewed from Town Square.

 
 
 

SUNDAY, MAY 26

34th ANNUAL CHOWDERFEST  

FEE: $7.50 for adults, $5 for children 12 & under  

Bring an appetite to Town Square on Sunday and join us for Waterville Valley Resort's 34th Annual Chowderfest. Local restaurants will go head-to-head, battling for the coveted title of Best Chowder in Town. Once you've sampled each restaurant's chowder, you'll be given a ballot to vote for the winner! The winning restaurant is awarded year-long bragging rights!  

 

LIVE OUTDOOR CONCERT  

FREE EVENT

Feast on chowder as the sounds of live music float through the Valley. Live outdoor concerts will take place at the Town Square Gazebo throughout Chowderfest, with performances by Rythm Method. Beginning at 4:00pm, Bob Pratte Band will take the stage and jam the night away!  

 

MONDAY, MAY 27 

ANIMAL ENCOUNTER SERIES – NEW HAMPSHIRE WILDLIFE  

FREE EVENT

Squam Lakes Science Center is hosting the first event in the Summer 2023 Animal Encounter Series. Join us in the Town Square Lower Courtyard and learn about New Hampshire Wildlife from expert naturalists. Native wildlife ambassadors will show live animal presentations, informing and inspiring children, adults, and families alike. Animal Encounter Series takes place every Sunday (and select Mondays), beginning June 25th.  
 

 

MOUNTAIN CLEAN UP & PIG ROAST

FREE EVENT

Join us in keeping our White Mountain sanctuary thriving by volunteering to help clean up Mount Tecumseh! Over the last year, thousands of guests have experienced the family fun that the Waterville Valley Resort mountain brings, and to give back to the space we love so much, it is up to us to keep the woods and trails free of rubbish and debris. Afterward, Waterville Valley Resort wants to thank volunteers by pigging out with an outdoor pig roast!
