Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend at Waterville Valley with delicious chowders, live music and a forest clean-up and more!
Memorial Day is the traditional start of summer in the Granite State – so this year escape to the White Mountains for a fun-filled Memorial Day Weekend including our annual Chowderfest - celebrating its 30th edition this year, a forest clean-up followed by a BBQ lunch and plenty of live entertainment.
On Saturday, May 25, it’s time to clean up our backyard and get our beloved slopes ready for summer hikes and bike rides. From 9:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m the group will clean up the base area and then at 1 p.m enjoy a free Pig Roast BBQ on Buckets Deck. Your bag of collected trash is your ticket to a delicious lunch! There will also be games and a $1 beer cash bar, and live music by Amanda McCarthy Duo and Chris Cavanaugh Duo on the Gazebo stage.
Then on Sunday, May 26, sample a variety of chowders from local restaurants at the 30th Annual Chowderfest & Brews. Chowder sampling runs from 12 noon to 2 p.m, with guests submitting ballots for their favorites and the winner awarded the “Golden Clam Award” for best chowder. Admission is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, and that covers all the chowder tasting.
While enjoying the chowder and brews, guests will also be treated to live music on the Gazebo Stage from 12 noon to 3 p.m. by the Crunchy Western Boys and additional live entertainment from 4 to 7 p.m. by Mystical Magic.
On Monday, May 27, the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center in Town Square is hosting a special edition of the Animal Encounter Series. From 10 a.m to 11 a.m, expert naturalists will deliver live animal presentations of New Hampshire Wild Life to inspire and inform children, adults and families. The Animal Encounter Series will run every Sunday during the summer months, starting on June 30th.
