7th Annual Cold Turkey Plunge & Visit by Santa on November 30th
On Saturday November 30, 2019, the Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports Program will kick off the holiday season with the 7th annual Cold Turkey Plunge into the icy mountain waters of Corcoran Pond in the heart of Waterville Valley. The Plunge is the major fund raiser supporting WVAS activities. All donations go directly to provide snow sports opportunities for persons with cognitive and physical disabilities.
Plunge participants are asked to raise a minimum of $50 in donations. For their efforts they will receive a Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports “Empowered Bracelet,” an official Cold Turkey Plunge long sleeve t-shirt and a gourmet cold turkey sandwich courtesy of Chef Sean Stout from the Wild Coyote Grill. Additional incentives will be awarded for attaining various fundraising goals and prizes will be given to individuals and teams with the most donations and best costume (costumes are optional).
Not willing to test the frigid waters? Become a VP (Virtual Plunger). Make a donation of $50 or more to team VP at bit.ly/cold-turkey-plunge. Send a goofy picture of yourself to firstname.lastname@example.org. Event organizers will photoshop you plunging into the icy pond. You get bragging rights and Plunge swag.
The greater Waterville Valley community has embraced this fun event, and teams are already being formed and challenges being made. Plan on skiing at Waterville Valley Resort in the morning, then heading to Corcoran Pond beach at 1 p.m. for the Plunge.
Spend the afternoon in Town Square. Santa and his elves will make their annual trip to Waterville Valley, arriving at 3:30 p.m. Santa will have gifts and candy for every child who comes to visit. Parents are welcome to take photos of their children with Santa. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served. A suggested donation, from those who are able, of $5 per child or $10 per family will be gratefully accepted. All proceeds will be donated to the Whole Village Family Resource Center in Plymouth, NH.
Enjoy the winter ambiance of Waterville Valley with your family by the outdoor fireplace in the square, or partaking of holiday hospitality in the village’s cozy shops and restaurants. At 7 p.m., the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place in the square followed by a spectacular fireworks display over Corcoran Pond.
